Anyone just hearing the delighted squeals coming from our Christmas party audience would  not have imagined that there were only fifteen children present (including a baby and our own Harry), supplemented by a similar number of adults; members, parents and friends.

The afternoon’s entertainment began with Lorenzo attempting to deliver a large Amazon parcel, which floated and danced around, apparently at its own free will, before revealing Hannah inside.

Your scribe welcomed the audience with the help of Fred the Flea, Marmalade the Monkey and some balloons, before introducing a ‘Beauty and the Beast’ scenario. Craig controlled the action as a shadow box produced Lorenzo as the Prince and Francesca was beautifully costumed as Belle.

The interval created some excellent photo opportunities, and the tables creaked under mince pies and biscuits. There was also a raffle with a wide range of prizes to suit all ages and tastes – virtually enough for everyone!

Our special guest was Adrian Catch (the son of our good friend Leslie Melville) from Blackpool. Adrian soon had the kids warmed up with a singing/shouting competition (boys against girls) and some antics with the Silver Sceptre.
MAGIC @ CHRISTMAS
Routines involved an elusive picture of Father Christmas, mixed-up Christmas cards and a coloured ribbon sequence with Monty Monkey.  All culminated in a balloon model being created for Isabella, a charming assistant from the audience.  Pooh (bear) on a toilet seat was eventually transformed into a cute bear in a red heart!

It would not have been a Christmas party without the Man in Red, of course, and Santa duly obliged by turning up after a rousing chorus of Jingle Bells. Our old pal Rawden Kerr had brought him.

Soon, our first post-Covid Christmas party was over, with warm thanks being extended to the small, hard-working band of enthusiasts who had made it all possible.
