SUNDAY LUNCH WITH THE MML
Special Guest STEVIE B
and some 'Midsummer Magic'
We were also treated to Stevie’s entertaining monologue ‘Albert and the Magic Convention’, very loosely based on ‘Albert and the Lion’ (with sincere apologies to Marriot Edgar). Stevie also provided some extra curricular tuition to Adele Armour, a potential new member who had asked if she could attend. She was gently encouraged to provide some table magic after the cabaret and very well she did too. We look forward to seeing her at our workshop at the end of June.

Craig, Roger, Stevie B, Carl, Donald and Allan jumped at the chance of providing more after dinner entertainment. In front of a sizable contingent of ‘Muggles’, the captivated audience were treated to a variety of close-up effects which went down very well. To round off a very enjoyable afternoon, we of course all gathered outside in the gardens for our usual group photo in some lovely June sunshine. The event continues to grow in popularity and we are already looking forward to next year.
Now firmly cemented in our magic calendar, Sunday Lunch with the MML continues to delight members and guests alike. ‘The Boardroom’ at The Foxfields Hotel provides an intimate setting with views onto the gardens. The food was every bit as good as we have come to expect from the award winning ‘Artisan’ restaurant and members and their guests enjoyed some excellent company along with the food.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Paul and Margaret Guy, together with Brian Lead and Caroline Pearson, usually stalwarts of the event, couldn’t be with us but were certainly there in spirit. Before the off, Allan read out a message from Debbie McGee who had sent apologies for not being able to be with us but did ask that we pass on her good wishes for a great afternoon. We were particularly pleased that Marilyn and Chris Lord had once again travelled down from Bonar Bray to join us and it was a delight to see Louise Bellerby once again and she joined husband Steve as our guest.

Our cabaret was in the very safe hands of our good friend Stevie B from the Northen Magic Circle and he didn’t disappoint. Paul will be sad to learn he missed his favourite ‘The Whole card’ which Stevie delivered with his usual aplomb. We enjoyed a range of fine effects from his signature ‘Six card repeat’, a ‘Triumph routine where cards were shuffled in a pair of pot noodle cups, some cut & restored skipping ropes, before rounding off with the ‘Hydrostatic Glass’ and the ubiquitous ‘Poppet Beads’.
